my home office staples for a healthy back

These are my home office staples.

I realize they look nothing like your typical office supplies, but they are my favorite things for “micro breaks”.

In my Facebook Live yesterday, I talked about how taking a 20 second micro break every 20 to 30 minutes can save your back from the stress of repetitive motions like working at a computer.

Small movements we do over and over again can seem so minor and insignificant, yet they can cause the next thing we do to be the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Try bending a paper clip back and forth a few hundred times. Eventually it’s going to snap.

Like when you throw your back out bending over to tie your shoe.

Including micro breaks while at work, cleaning, or doing yard work can help prevent this. It can be something as stretching what feels good, standing up if you’ve been sitting, or sitting if you’ve been standing.

When I’m working in my office I use…

A yoga bolster to lay on and let my arms fall out to the side to open through my chest and shoulders

A foam roller to roll through any knots in my upper back or legs

Tennis balls to massage my upper back (I lean on it while standing against a wall)

A head massager which just feels good and is a nice distraction :)

Start incorporating micro breaks into your day so you don’t throw out your back doing something silly.

🙌 No more being down and out for the next few days

🙌 No more watching helplessly as your To Do list piles up

🙌 No more having to cancel plans your kids were looking forward to last minute

What’s something you do in your daily routine you KNOW you should be taking breaks from?
